On a beautiful summer day in Birmingham, I had the honor to photograph Lauren.  She graduates in 2014.   The photos ended up being a nice reflection of her interests and style ... yet keeping it really easy and natural. Congratulations on your Senior year Lauren!

This was such a unique wedding venue, the Madison Building in downtown Detroit.  They used some really creative ideas to make it personal, adding a little rustic charm to the urban environment with burlap, chicken wire, clothesline pins, and other charming elements in their details for the guest table cards, bouquets, etc.  Combined with the amazing rooftop bar for the reception — overlooking a winning Tigers game filled with lots

We went to Eastern Market to capture these images, and then headed to the Eastern most part of the Riverwalk in Detroit.  So we could use the river, a fountain and the Belle Isle bridge in our backgrounds. I really like the intense color and vivid scheme I was able to use in these photos.  Frankly, I'm growing a little weary  of the whole "vintage" and soft color overlays that have

It was a beautiful night in Metamora for an engagement photo session!  There are some favorites of mine in this group.  Especially the extremely romantic "moment right before the kiss" and the cool shot in the swing.   Not to mention Justin's antics posing like a little kid on the log.   Great stuff you two, congrats.  Can't wait for the wedding!

The day was filled with double happiness. So many great photos thanks to terrific team shooting with my associate photographer, Anna and assistant Taylor. Here is a very brief highlight reel of the day.  Enjoy!

What a wonderful wedding at the Gem Theater in downtown Detroit!  We were a little unlucky with the rain outside, but the wedding and reception were full of lots of light and happiness.   Here were a few of my favorites from the wedding.

"You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage - pleasantly, smilingly, non apologetically - to say 'no' to other things.  And the way to do that is by having a bigger 'yes' burning inside."    Stephen Covey  Margaret Newton Photography is still 100% in business!  Just moving to a new location.   Well, it's official!  I've decided not to renew my lease, so we're moving. Thanks to

January 26, 2013 Julie and Bruce

I was so honored to be one of just 10 people in the room when Julie and Bruce exchanged vows and celebrated their wedding.  This beautiful home was the perfect setting for the love and emotion flowing throughout.   Congratulations Julie and Bruce!

November 24, 2012 Holidays are Here!

So, today is small business Saturday, as it's called.  I am not sure exactly how that applies to me, since I'm open by appointment only.  But, I think it was only fitting that I am in the studio today for a quick session with this little cutie pie! It really is starting to feel like the Holidays for me.

After a poor experience with the photography studio the school contracts with, Rachel's mom called me.   I can't wait to have the family in for their official viewing soon.  In the meantime, here are a few sneak peeks for Rachel. Recently, I received this email, too ... "Wanted to let you know that Rachel was so pleased with the session and the "preview" she saw on your camera. We are looking
